The Hague war crimes tribunal's chief prosecutor, Serge Brammertz, arrives in Croatia on Tuesday to attend a regional meeting and hold talks with senior Croatian officials on Croatia's cooperation with the tribunal before submitting a report to the UN Security Council in June.
The prosecutor will be in Croatia until Friday, the AFP news agency quoted the tribunal's spokeswoman, Olga Kavran, as saying on Monday.
She said this was a regular working visit before submitting a report to the UN Security Council in the second half of June.
On Tuesday, Brammertz is scheduled to meet President Ivo Josipovic, while on Thursday and Friday, he will attend a regional meeting of state prosecutor's offices.
Brammertz's office has been asking for a long time the delivery of artillery logs from the 1995 Operation Storm, while Zagreb is underlining that it has delivered everything in its possession and that it is fully cooperating with the tribunal.
Brammertz's assessment of Croatia's cooperation with the Hague tribunal will be important for the European Commission to greenlight the opening of negotiations on the Judiciary and Fundamental Rights chapter in Croatia's accession talks with the European Union.
