The State Election Commission (DIP) on Tuesday released the complete results of Sunday's election for the seventh Croatian Parliament, which will become final after the expiry of deadlines for complaints.

The results that were released on Monday do not differ from today's complete results because in the meantime returns have come in from only one polling station, DIP chairman Branko Hrvatin told a press conference.

The complete results show that the centre-left Kukuriku coalition of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Croatian People's Party (HNS), the Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) and the Croatian Pensioners' Party (HSU) won 80 seats in the 151-seat Parliament, while the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and its coalition partners the Croatian Civic Party (HGS) of Split Mayor Zeljko Kerum and the Democratic Centre (DC) gained 47 seats.

The Croatian Democratic Party of Slavonia and Baranja (HDSS) and the Labour Party captured six seats each, the Independent List of retired Catholic priest Ivan Grubisic took two seats, while the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) and the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) Dr Ante Starcevic, with its coalition partner the Croatian Pure Party of Rights (HCSP), each won one seat. The ethnic minorities have eight seats in Parliament.

The 48-hour deadline for complaints starts to run at midnight, after which election contestants have another 48 hours to appeal with the Constitutional Court, which in turn must pass its ruling within the next 48 hours.

Hrvatin said that voting would not be repeated at any polling station. He added that the Ladonja independent slate and the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) crossed the election threshold of 5 per cent, the former in Constituency No. 8 and the latter in Constituency No. 11, but failed to win a seat according to the D'Hondt method of proportional representation.

The election contestants must submit to the DIP their final report on campaign funding within the next 15 days and final financial report by January 3. The DIP will issue a report on election funding within 60 days of the election day, Hrvatin said.
