According to media estimates, the anti-government protest walk in Zagreb on Saturday was attended by some 10,000 disgruntled citizens who during the walk for the first time made stops at the Agriculture Ministry and the Constitutional Court.

The police estimated the number of protesters at 5,000, reporting no incidents.

This was one of the biggest anti-government rallies since a civic initiative started organising protest walks four weeks ago.

The protesters went on the 13th protest march through the capital, calling on everyone to take to the streets and carrying banners reading "General strike", "Direct democracy", "330,000 jobless, 70,000 without a salary - Capitalism? No, thanks", "Down with the government and injustice", "Parties are the problem, not the solution", "We want elections", "Equality, employment, self-management", "Working without a salary is worse than slavery, "Annul ownership transformation and privatisation" and many others.

They first rallied outside the offices of the ruling HDZ party and the home of Parliament Deputy Speaker and HDZ Vice-President Vladimir Seks.

They also walked by the offices of the T-HT and Agrokor corporations and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in Savska Street, shouting "Thieves" while passing by.

The protest march ended around 9.30 pm.

More that 1,000 police were deployed to provide for security in the capital as the protest walk coincided with a match between the football clubs Dinamo and Hajduk.

Anti-government protests were also held in 14 other cities, with a much smaller turnout - from 20 in Koprivnica and Djakovo to the maximum 500 in Rijeka.

The next anti-government protest walk in Zagreb was announced for Wednesday, at 6 pm.
