Parliament Speaker Luka Bebic has not mortgaged anything for former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, but was willing to participate in the collection of funds for bail, if it was to be granted, so that Sanader could be released pending trial, Bebic's office said in a statement on Monday.

Earlier today, Zagreb County Court Judge Kresimir Devcic rejected a bail offer totalling HRK 12.4 million, remanding Sanader in investigative custody for two more months due to flight risk.

Goran Suic, one of Sanader's attorneys, told reporters afterwards that since Sanader's assets were blocked, collateral for release pending trial was offered by Sanader's friends, with Bebic offering his house, HDZ MPs Jerko Rosin and Mario Zubovic their flats, and Sanader's wife Mirjana a third of their house.
