Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, Slovenian PM Borut Pahor and Serbian President Boris Tadic met in Ptuj, Slovenia on Friday and agreed to hold such meetings in the future as well.

Pahor, the host of the meeting, said the three leaders agreed to meet like this while they were in office.

"We will meet when we deem that it is necessary and that it will contribute to the continuation of good relations in all areas," he said at a joint news conference.

Kosor said today's meeting and an upcoming regional conference in Slovenia were the follow-up to a good and successful story, primarily in Croatia-Slovenia relations.

She underlined the symbolism reflected in the fact that the regional conference in Brdo Pri Kranju would be co-organised by one European Union country, Slovenia, and by Croatia, which she hoped would sign an accession treaty with the Union early next year, and in the fact that they would invite to the conference all neighbouring countries striving for Euro-integration.

Kosor said solutions to problems should be sought "in keeping with the trust, friendship, respect for the ability, possibility and willingness to resolve problems and outstanding issues that Prime Minister Pahor and I, namely the governments of Croatia and Slovenia, have shown".

Tadic said this trilateral meeting and the upcoming regional conference were very important because of the complications caused by the global financial crisis, since all countries in the region have been facing similar challenges over the past two years.

He said it was necessary to create a good political climate, not only for the European integration of the region's countries, but also so that they could cope better.

"The meeting in Bled, which we all wish will take place, should be one of the elements which should create such a positive climate," said Tadic.

Tadic underlined that his country wanted representatives of all people living in Serbia to participate in regional forums under certain conditions, namely that Kosovo Albanian representatives should participate in the "format defined by UN Security Council Resolution 1244".

"That's an elementary prerequisite for Serbia's participation in such a forum and that's why it wants that all doubts about this be settled," said Tadic.
