Ivica Panenic was appointed as the new head of the Office of the National Security Council, according to a joint decision to that effect made by President Ivo Josipovic and Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on 31 October.

The offices of President Josipovic and of the Croatian government issued a joint statement with the information on this appointment on Wednesday.

Panenic succeeds Petar Misevic who was relieved of that duty last week after the top state officials considered developments surrounding an affair of the provision of printouts of telephone records to the police.
