The government will try to increase funds for active employment policy measures and most certainly it will not decrease them in the next year's budget, Croatian Labour and Pension System Minister Mirando Mrsic said in parliament on Wednesday, presenting amendments to the Law on the Employment Policy.
Mrsic said the government will propose that the application of those measure be extended by another six months, namely until 1 July 2013 when Croatia is expected to enter the European Union, adding that these measures would be expanded and simplified so that their implementation could be easier.
The minister said that one of the employment measures was to include 13,491 persons in the public construction work in the first nine months of 2012, which is 64 percent more than in the same period the year before.
The measure aimed at professional training through work experience included 7,393 persons, which is 3340 persons or 63.8 percent more than last year. This measure is now being implemented in the private sector as well, the minister said.
In the first nine months of this year, only 1,875 persons took advantage of the measure aimed at educating the unemployed, which is 65 percent less than in the same period the year before, the minister said.
Amendments to the law on encouraging employment are aimed at redefining the term unemployed person without any work experience, so as to enable professional training to those who have more than one year of service.
