The Croatian Parliament will be sitting until October 28 when it will be dissolved for elections in December, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor announced on Wednesday morning after a meeting of the parliamentary group of her HDZ party.

"All the bills on which the government has been working hard and which are important for Croatia will be added to the agenda and put to a vote next week," Kosor said.

Kosor recalled that the ruling coalition had set December 4 as an election date and that a final date for elections was March 11, 2012.

"These ridiculous calculations that an early election should be called today are just the wishful thinking of those who only crave for power, and being in power means to serve the people. (...) We will insist that Parliament conclude its session after the bills have been discussed and voted on," she said.

Parliament continued its session on Wednesday morning with a discussion on proposed amendments to the law on state aid to agriculture and rural development, which aim to to simplify the aid system until Croatia's entry into the European Union. The amendments propose a financial envelope for 2011 and 2012 for rural development and for ecological and integrated production.
