The Office of the European Union's Regional Policy Commissioner Johannes Hahn has said that a preliminary feasibility study for a Peljesac Bridge has not yet been completed, which is why it is still too early to make any conclusions.

The study is not yet made and it is premature to draw conclusions, Hahn's spokeswoman Shirin Wheeler said on Thursday in Brussels.

The study should help in deciding on the most sensible solution for connecting Croatia's territory. It should assist in the identification and analysis of all possibilities to connect Dubrovnik-Neretva County with the rest of Croatia, she said.

According to the spokeswoman, those possibilities include a protected road corridor, a bridge between the peninsula of Peljesac and the mainland, a ferry service or a combination of these possibilities.

Earlier on Thursday, Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic said that the preliminary feasibility study for a Peljesac Bridge had been selected as the best option.

However, European Transport Commissioner Siim Kalllas, who was on a two-day visit to Croatia, said later in the day that as far as he knew, no possibility had been prioritised yet and that it was actually not a transport matter but a matter of the regional development policy.
