The presidency of the Croatian Democratic Alliance of Slavonia and Baranja (HDSSB) held a meeting on Monday in Drinovci near Grude, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the party's founder Branimir Glavas had fled to avoid serving a war crimes sentence.

"The HDSSB does not recognise the politicised and compromise verdict of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia. The reason for the political persecution of Branimir Glavas is the foundation of the HDSSB, and the trial of Glavas is the trial of the HDSSB," HDSSB president Vladimir Sisljagic said, reading the conclusions of the meeting.

The HDSSB presidency said that Glavas had not arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina without the party's approval, adding that without its approval Glavas should not be "taking any decisions or making any moves on his own."

The presidency decided to cancel a press conference scheduled for Monday in Mostar.

Croatia's Supreme Court has upheld a trial court ruling that found Glavas guilty of war crimes against Serb civilians committed in the eastern city of Osijek in 1991, but has reduced the prison sentence from 10 to eight years.
