The president of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Radimir Cacic, said at a meeting of the Krizevci-Koprivnica branch of the HNS on Friday that after the election which "according to everything will be held in October or November", he would most probably be a deputy prime minister in charge of the economy.

Cacic said he saw a chance for the HNS at the coming election in the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) voters, saying that the HSS in coalition with the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) had lost credibility. Cacic said he was confident the HSS would receive maximum three seats in parliament.

The HNS leader said that protest rallies that are being held almost on a daily basis in Zagreb and other Croatian cities indicate that people are losing faith in institutions which are not capable of solving problems that have piled up.
