Croatia Airlines (CA) cancelled over 20 scheduled international and domestic flights on Tuesday as its pilots and cabin crews went on strike in the morning demanding that their acquired rights be retained in a new collective agreement.
About 80 pilots and flight attendants gathered outside the company's administration building on Tuesday morning. "The unions of pilots and cabin crew staff began a strike at 6am and will remain on strike until their demands have been met," spokeswoman for the cabin crew staff union Ivana Lojo told Hina.
The strike followed hours of inconclusive talks between the unions and management that ended at midnight. "The pilots and flight attendants showed their understanding and willingness to reach an agreement, but the management maintained a rigid position. We hope we will continue talks today," Lojo said.
The CA management said on Monday that flights would be only partly disrupted and that despite the strike most passengers would be flown to their destinations according to the CA flight schedule, while the others would be transported by partner companies.
