As many as 72 percent of Croatian households believe that their income is insufficient and about 60 percent below the optimal income, shows a survey by the GfK market research agency.
The current economic crisis has made Croatians abandon their previous habits and adopt a more rational, smarter approach to spending, shows the survey presented earlier this week at a round table discussion on ways to maintain the financial stability of households.
The survey reveals a huge gap between the actual household income and what is perceived as an adequate income, with 72 percent of households saying their income is less than what they need.
Only 8 percent of the households covered by the survey had an income exceeding their needs, while 17 percent said their income was in line with their needs.
As for saving, 46 percent of the respondents said their households would not be able to save any money in the next 12 months.
