Tportal, citing sources from inside the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia, reports that Croatian President Ivo Josipovic met with UEFA President Michel Platini on Thursday, as the UEFA chairman visits Croatia as to undertake measures against fan violence. Josipovic met with Platini at the UEFA chairman’s request

The European football governing body, UEFA, sent a letter on the said issue to the Croatian Government, the President and the Croatian Football Federation (HNS).

The letter contains specific requirements that Croatia must implement within one year. If these requirements are not met, then there is a chance that the HNS may be disqualified from UEFA.

Josipovic told Platini that he is aware of the problem of fan violence and that the cabinet has drafted a new law that aims to solve that issue.

At the same time, the president called on all state institutions to take all measures to prevent fan violence.

Platini also issued a final warning to Serbian sporting authorities, and threatened to disqualify Serbia from the 2012 European Championships as well as Serbian clubs from continental competition at the first next outburst of fan violence. Platini visited Belgrade before stopping in Zagreb.
