The Ministry of Labour and Pension Systems on Friday said in a press release that social dialogue must exist in Croatia's everyday, as the way to resolve all questions that are of interest to workers and employers.
In response to statements in the media and on social networks over the past few days, the Ministry wishes once again to emphasise that the right to union organising is one of the fundamental workers' rights guaranteed in the Constitution and protected by international agreements which Croatia is a signatory to, the press release says.
Inappropriate statements with calls to dispute or violate workers' fundamental rights and liberties are absolutely unacceptable to the ministry.
As a future member of the European Union, Croatia has opted for values on which the EU lies and social dialogue is one of the founding ways to resolve all issues of interest to workers and employers, the press release says.
The ministry therefore calls on unions and employers to base the restructuring of companies and measures that need to be taken on constructive social dialogue and mutual respect and trust between social partners.
