Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic said on Thursday she was ready to answer for her view that the solution to the Ljubljanska Banka issue she had reached with her Slovenian counterpart was in Croatia's interest and acceptable to both sides.
"I am ready to answer for the fact that I believe that the proposed solution is not detrimental to anyone, it is in our interest, it breaks the sort of stalemate in which Slovenia has found itself, and it is viable. I am ready to take responsibility for it, and if the Prime Minister accepts the proposal, it means that he too is ready to take responsibility, and the same should happen on the Slovenian side in order for it to hold water," Pusic said in Parliament after several MPs asked her to report on the solution she had agreed upon with Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec at their marathon meeting in Otocec ob Krki, Slovenia, on Wednesday.
Pusic said that the fact that Erjavec and she had found a solution together was an important step, but stressed that they had agreed not to reveal details of it before the proposal was approved by the prime ministers of the two countries.
"There is no doubt that we will present the proposal, but not before we receive a response from Slovenia. There must be fair play, because without it there can be no progress in our relations," the minister said.
