The Office of Croatian President Ivo Josipovic on Friday issued a press release showing the costs of the presidential office in response to former President Stjepan Mesic's statements on this topic.

Total costs made by the Office of President Mesic in 2008 came to 52.9 million kuna, and in 2009 they were 47.7 million kuna, reads the press release.

Total costs made by the Office of President Josipovic were HRK 41.3 million in 2010 and HRK 44.59 million in 2011, the press release reads.

The expenditures for the staff of Mesic's office were HRK 27.2 million in 2008 and HRK 27.5 million in 2009.

The expenditures for the staff in the Office of President Josipovic were HRK 24.21 million in 2010 and HRK 24.22 million in 2011.

The press release denied Mesic's claims that the last Christmas and New Year reception given by Josipovic was expensive, presenting figures that it cost HRK 14,908.

Commenting on Mesic's accusations, President Ivo Josipovic said earlier on Friday that there was no war between them.

"The point is that there are people who cannot comprehend when their function ceases. Mesic is no longer the president. As a citizen, he can criticise as much as he wants, and I stand by my previous statement that the former president's office in the present form is unnecessary," Josipovic said on Mount Jahorina overlooking Sarajevo where he and the leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia gathered for a trilateral summit meeting.

On that occasion, Josipovic announced the publication of statistics showing which presidential office made lower costs.
