Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor told Croatian Television on Friday the ruling coalition would agree on the date of parliamentary elections after the completion of Croatia's accession negotiations with the European Union, at the end of this month, and then inform the public.
"There is no rush. The whole situation is under control and today proves it. It is time to be happy about the success which Croatia has achieved and which has been recognised by the European Commission as well as by the EU countries. After all, that's what I heard in London today," Kosor said at Zagreb airport after returning from London, where she held talks with British PM David Cameron.
Kosor said the date of the parliamentary election would be defined soon, after a session of the European Council scheduled for June 24.
She said that after today's recommendation by the European Commission to the Council of the EU to conclude Croatia's EU entry talks, Croatia had a lot of work ahead until the signing of the accession treaty and EU accession.
Kosor said all these processes were irreversible and that everything that had been done through many reforms had been for the benefit of Croatian citizens.
She underlined the importance of work on economic projects. "We are also trying to keep the state budget stable as well as attract major investments this year."
Kosor thanked Croatian citizens for their support as well as Croatian war veterans and their families, saying that without their love of country, sacrifice and courage, there would be no free, independent, democratic and European Croatia.
