Ljubo Jurcic confirmed on Wednesday that later today he would submit his resignation to the State Property Management Agency (AUDIO) as chairman of the Podravka food company Supervisory Board.

Jurcic confirmed the news to the press, adding that he had already informed the government of his decision.

He dismissed media headlines that the reason for his resignation were differences of opinion between him and the mayor of the northern town of Koprivnica, Zvonimir Mrsic, who is being mentioned as the next Managing Board president of the Koprivnica-based company.

"I was appointed chairman of the Supervisory Board in a time of crisis, and as Podravka today is a stable company which generates profit and operates successfully on foreign markets, I believe my work is done. I will leave it now to younger people to take the responsibility for the company," Jurcic said, adding that for him it was not a professional challenge to be at the helm of a company that has been stabilised.

Asked about negotiations concerning the replacement of the Managing Board, namely if he knew the exact date of the next session of the Supervisory Board, Jurcic said that over the past three weeks he had conducted negotiations with members of the incumbent Managing Board, taking into account protection of the rights of the participants in the negotiations and Podravka's benefit.

"I consider the negotiations over and as soon as people who will remain on the Supervisory Board prepare the necessary documents, the session will be called. As for a new Managing Board, it is not my job to conduct negotiations with its members, it is the job of the owner," Jurcic said.

Jurcic was appointed Podravka Supervisory Board chair in October 2009 when the company was in a difficult situation, due to a corruption scandal called Spice.
