NATO-led peacekeepers KFOR started withdrawing from the village of Rudare in northern Kosovo at the end of four-hour talks between NATO commander German General Erhard Buehler and Serb negotiator Borko Stefanovic.

KFOR troops arrived in Rudare around 1300 hours to remove roadblocks set up by local Serbs.

"I do have the force to go through and I will have to go through to supply my men. This time we have given in ... but we shall see about next time," Buehler told reporters.

According to the Serbian news agency Tanjug, Buehler decided to withdraw KFOR troops from Serb road barriers to the benefit of the residents of Zvecan municipality, adding however that this did not change his determination to act against extremists.

Members of the NATO-led peacekeepers on Friday closed the border crossings of Brnjak and Jarinje between Kosovo and Serbia after ethnic Serbs from Kosovo's north earlier that day blocked NATO troops reaching their peacekeepers deployed at border posts,
