The chairman of the Zagreb City Assembly, Boris Sprem, said on Friday evening that 90 percent of city deputies confirmed their arrival at the extraordinary session concerning the "Varsavska case", scheduled to Tuesday, July 20, adding that the City Assembly presidency has also invited Urban Planning and Construction Minister Marina Matulovic Dropulic and Zagreb's chief of police to attend the session.
"I hope they will help us find answers concerning police conduct, as well as the role of the construction ministry in this case," Sprem told Croatian Television.
More than 150 activists, politicians, lawyers, journalists and citizens were arrested and held in custody on Thursday, 15 July, because of their participation in a peaceful protest against a controversial construction project in the historic centre of Zagreb.
