Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Wednesday dismissed as untrue media reports saying that Tuesday's meeting of the National Security Council was a heated one and that she opposed an investigation into allegations by her former deputy Damir Polancec that national chief of police Oliver Grbic had suggested to members of the ruling HDZ party to write anonymous letters against opposition leaders.

"That's not true. Not everything that is written should be trusted," Kosor told reporters. "The meeting was good, open, full of arguments, and what is the most important to me is that full support was given to the fight against corruption and crime, regardless of pressure, especially on the judiciary and courts."

When asked if she was afraid of Polancec's allegations being fully investigated, Kosor said that the uncompromising fight against crime and corruption was continuing and that in that process attention should be paid to protecting the institutions "which are the only ones that can protect human rights, conduct investigations and decide whether someone is guilty or not."
