Croatia's National Security Council supports the resolute fight by the state institutions against corruption and organised crime so as to ensure the integrity and independence of judicial institutions and human rights protection, the Council said in a statement after its meeting in the Office of President Ivo Josipovic on Tuesday.
The Council discussed the organisational and security aspects of the Pope's visit to Croatia next weekend, efforts to ensure the independence and integrity of state institutions and accusations of alleged abuse of judicial institutions for political purposes, the security aspects of the forthcoming tourist season, and the security of Croatian military personnel in international peace missions.
The Council encourages all relevant bodies to check reports of alleged abuse of judicial institutions and to report to the Council about their findings. It also encourages all institutions to continue the uncompromising fight against all forms of crime, the statement said.
The statement concluded by saying that based on reports by relevant agencies Croatia was a safe country for both domestic and foreign tourists.
