Asked about her expectations of the Croatian judiciary after the extradition of former prime minister Ivo Sanader, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Tuesday that the judiciary was independent and strengthened and that everyone in Croatia could expect a fast and efficient investigation and "should it come to trial, a just and speedy procedure."
"Croatia's judiciary is entirely independent, as is the State Prosecutor's Office, the anti-corruption agency USKOK and other institutions," the PM reiterated.
Asked if Sanader's return could cause harm to the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party and if she was afraid of his statements, Kosor said the HDZ was a party which opened the doors to the fight against corruption and crime wide open.
"Our fundamental principle is that there are no untouchables," Kosor said, adding that in her opinion, the HDZ had shown strength and determination.
