If parliament adopts government-sponsored amendments to the Croatian Radio and Television Act (HRT), the monthly subscription to the national broadcaster could be 60 instead of the current 80 kuna as of August 1 (EUR 1 = HRK 7.25).
The government proposed on Thursday that the fee be reduced from 1.5 to 1.125 per cent of the average net salary, according to statistics for 2009.
If the fee is reduced, the HRT's revenues would decline 25 per cent.
