Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said at Wednesday's government meeting the government would hold one more session before the inauguration of the new parliament.
"We will work until the last second. This is a caretaker government but we are doing our job in line with the constitution and legislation," Kosor said, adding that she was commenting on some media articles.
She said that in 2003 the government held its last session on December 18, although elections were held on November 23 and the final results were released on December 8.
"That's why I believe that the rules valid when the SDP (Social Democrats) leads the government must be valid for the government led by the HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union)," Kosor said.
At its last session, the government will discuss a report on the financial situation in the country and one on its most important projects so the public can be at least briefly acquainted with what this government did and of which it is proud, Kosor said.
Today, the government gave its consent to the payment of about HRK 44 million from the War Veterans Fund's net profits for scholarships for 10,000-11,000 of their children, War Veterans Minister Tomislav Ivic said.
Over the past few years, about HRK 240 million from the Fund was paid for more than 40,000 scholarships for veterans' children.
Ivic said it was estimated the War Veterans Fund would net about HRK 135 million in profits this year and that the Fund had fully met its purpose.
Kosor said the Fund was one of the best projects of any government so far, one "we can all be very proud of."
Also today, the government amended a regulation on compensation for stimulating electricity production from renewable sources and cogeneration plants next year in the amount of HRK 0.05 per kWh, the same as this year.
The government adopted a decision whereby foreigners with valid Schengen permits and visas will be able to enter Croatia without a visa in 2012 which, it was said, is in the interests of Croatia and its tourism.
The government adopted a decision transferring the management of state-owned property used by diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad from the State Property Management Agency to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry.
