Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic has said that parliamentary parties have not yet discussed candidates for Croatian parliamentarians to sit as observers in the European Parliament in the run-up to Croatia's accession to the European Union, but that her Croatian People's Party (HNS) will nominate its official Jozo Rados as its representative.

Asked by reporters before Thursday's government meeting about an inter-party agreement on Croatian observers in the European Parliament, the minister said she thought that the parties had already decided whom they would nominate, but that they had not yet held talks on that topic.

"This is something which the parliamentary benches should agree upon," Pusic said, adding that Croatia had to ratify the accession treaty with the EU before sending its observers.

The ratification can ensue 30 days after the publication of the results of Croatia's EU entry referendum in the Official Gazette, which will be on 2 March, according to Pusic.

It is likely that 12 Croatian observers will arrive in the EU in early April.
