Independent Democratic Serb Party MP Milorad Pupovac on Thursday welcomed an apology by Serbia's President Tomislav Nikolic for the massacre in Srebrenica, which he expressed publicly on behalf of Serbia and the Serbian people.
"That is confirmation of awareness of the gravity of the crime that was committed, a responsibility that is felt by all those who represent the Serbian people and in particular for Serbia, for the crimes committed by members of the Serb people or people who held some office and committed crimes on behalf of the state against members of the Bosniak people", Pupovac said.
Pupovac said that he had expected Nikolic's apology.
"That is something that should be done by anyone who wishes good relations and the re-gaining of trust and this will continue for some time yet when it comes to the regions of the former Yugoslavia", he said.
Future generations too, Pupovac says, should express gestures of apology and show their respect toward the victims.
