Bosnia and Herzegovina Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Minister Mirko Sarovic said on Sunday the European Commission's request to exempt imports of goods from Croatia and other EU members from customs fees, was unacceptable and detrimental for Bosnia.
"The European Union's proposal to have Croatia keep customs-free CEFTA regime with Bosnia and Herzegovina after 1 July is not fair and it is contrary to the interests of our economy," Sarovic told a news conference in Sarajevo.
A compromise solution is necessary and it should not be expected of Bosnia to unilaterally, to its own detriment, change regulations about exports and imports which apply to Croatia and the rest of the EU member countries, the minister said.
We propose to discuss this issue following the principle quota per quota, concession for concession, Sarovic said.
Bosnia asks the increase of quota for the export of its sugar, wine and fish to Croatia and other EU member states and in exchange it is prepared to make concessions in the same volume for Croatia and other EU members, but certainly not for 230 pieces of goods as it has been asked of it, Sarovic said.
