The government and seven public sector trade unions have initialled a new four-year Basic Collective Agreement for the public sector which is expected to be signed on 12 December, Labour and Pension System Minister Mirando Mrsic said after Tuesday's negotiations.
Four unions declined to initial the agreement and the minister hoped they would do so in the near future, calling on them to sign the agreement. According to Mrsic, the Basic Collective Agreement is a guarantee of social peace, jobs and regular pays in the public sector.
Under the new collective agreement, public sector employees gave up Christmas bonuses for 2012 and 2013 and holiday cash grants for 2013.
