Ajax scored twice in each half to beat Dinamo 4-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday. Goals by Gregory van der Wiel, Miralem Sulejmani, Siem de Jong and Nicolas Lodeiro kept the Dutch side well on track for a place in the Champions League last 16.

Following a superb backheel from Christian Eriksen, Gregory van der Wiel drilled an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net from a difficult angle in the 20th minute for a 1-0 lead.

Five minutes later Miralem Sulejmani, back in the Ajax lineup after a brief injury layoff, made it 2-0. Midway through the second half another flowing Ajax move ended with Siem de Jong knocking in the third with a 10-meter shot. Late on substitute Nicolas Lodeiro poured more misery on the away side well into stoppage time as the Uruguay international beat  Ivan Kelava with a low shot in the near corner to make it 4-0.

Ajax are second in Group D with seven points after four matches, three ahead of next opponents Olympique Lyon and three behinf leaders Real Madrid. The result also means they are assured of European competition after Christmas, in the Europa League at the very least. A scoring draw in France on November  22 would send Frank de Boer's side through.

Group leaders Real Madrid qualified for the knockout stages by beating Lyon 2-0 away on Wednesday.

Dinamo have no zero points from four games and  can now only fight for third spot and a Europa League place with two games left.
