Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar said on Monday that signing and ratifying the border arbitration agreement with Croatia was one of the biggest achievements of Prime Minister Borut Pahor's government, adding that after the arbitration deal was signed, relations with Croatia were raised to a higher level.
Zbogar said this at a news conference usually held at the end of the year at which he presented the incumbent government's achievements in foreign policy.
At the start of the term of Pahor's government, the border dispute with Croatia was the reason why Slovenia was blocking Croatia's EU entry talks, but Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and her Slovenian counterpart Pahor signed an arbitration deal in late 2009 and agreed to have the dispute settled by an arbitral tribunal and Croatia's EU negotiations unblocked.
The arbitration agreement was ratified by the Slovenian parliament this year and the final ratification took place at a national referendum.
Zbogar also told the news conference that relations with other neighbouring countries were good too.
