Slovenian President Danilo Tuerk and Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar said on Monday that the arbitration deal with Croatia was good for Slovenia because it secured Slovenia's vital interests at sea.

Minister Zbogar said "the arbitration agreement clearly defines theneed to satisfy vital interests of both countries. Slovenian interests areperfectly clear - direct contact with high seas, and the agreement said thiswill be taken into account".

Zbogar said that the present situation in which Slovenia had not removed itsreserves regarding the opening of Croatia's three chapter in the negotiationswith the European Union was not a blockade but a process of adjusting which hadnot yet been completed.
