Shiffrin wins women's slalom at Sljeme

The winner of the World Cup Zagreb Women's Slalom race on Friday was the U.S. skier Mikaela Shiffrin and Swedish Frida Hansdotter finished as the second being slower by 1.19 seconds. Canadian Erin Mielzynski was third.

Slovenia's Tina Maze, who was the second in the first run, was disqualified in the second run.

The victory in Zagreb places Shiffrin at the top of the slalom rankings with 366 points, being ahead by 24 points of Slovak Veronika Zuzulova and by 26 of Maze.

The floodlit slalom on Mountain Sljeme overlooking the Croatian capital was televised live in 22 countries with reports and other forms of coverage provided in some more countries worldwide. The VIP Snow Queen Trophy reported that the event was broadcast on Eurosport Asia and Eurosport Europe.

The men’s slalom will be held on Sunday and the organisers expect between 25,000 and 30,000 spectators on Sljeme.
