The Serbian Soccer Federation (FSS) has sanctioned two U-21 players in the national soccer team with a one year ban from playing in all national teams because of their involvement in a brawl during the England-Serbia match in Krusevac earlier in the month.

Goalkeeper coach in the national team, Srdjan Maksimovic, and fitness coach Andrej Milutinovic have been banned from the sport for two years.

"We conducted an independent investigation of the incident regardless of the EUFA (European Football Association) and prosecution office in our country", the president of Serbia's football disciplinary commission Slobodan Pajovic said.

The EUFA disciplinary commission will make its decision on the incident on 22 November.

Racial incidents during and after 16 October match which England won 1-0 in a game played against Serbia to qualify for next year's European Under-21 championships prompted British Prime Minister David Cameron and Sport Minister Hugh Robertson to send complaints to the UEFA and request this European football association to take tough sanctions against Serbia.

Robertson wrote to the UEFA president urging this European soccer governing body to investigate this issue and punish the perpetrators so as to stamp out racism from football.

The English Football Association sent an official complaint to the UEFA after young English soccer players were insulted during and after the Under-21 international match against Serbia in the southern Serbian town of Krusevac.

The monkey chants started straight away while we were warming up, said England defender Danny Rose, who was racially abused and pelted with stones in Krusevac before, during and after the said match.

The English media were flabbergasted by the fact that nobody in Serbia apologised for the incidents. Serbia's coach Aleksandar Jankovic was quoted as saying that there was no need for apology.

When asked by English reporters if he felt he should apologise for the fracas, he replied: "Apologise for what? It takes two for a brawl."

The English media are also surprised to see that an official report on the match failed to mention the incidents and that there is also no mention of them on the UEFA website.

The Serbian Football Association issued a statement a day after the match to deny any racial abuse against the visiting English soccer players.

It insists that the brawl after the match between members of the two teams had nothing to do with racism. Therefore UEFA officials made no mention in their initial report of any racist incident, the Serbian association said.

The Serbian side also claims that the brawl after the match was triggered by Danny Rose's impolite gestures towards Serbian fans.
