Senior officials and members of election committees of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) met in Gudovec near Bjelovar on Friday to discuss preparations for the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
HSS president Josip Friscic said his party advocated an even development of the country and its decentralisation and that its platform would focus on food production, processing industry and tourism.
Friscic said the HSS, a member of the ruling coalition government led by the HDZ, expected to score good results in the coming parliamentary elections and to keep its position in the government.
Asked to comment on media reports about communist crimes during World War II and in the post-war period, Frscic said that the HSS had always advocated that "light should be shed on those crimes and that laws should be adopted that would make it possible to appropriately mark all grave sites and places of suffering."
