New gold and world record for disabled swimmer Mihovil Spanja

Croatia's best disabled swimmer Mihovil Spanja on Monday won a gold medal in the 100-metre breaststroke at the 2010 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming World Championships in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, setting a new world record with a time of 1:25.11.

The silver went to Jevheniy Bohodayko of Ukraine, who finished the race in 1:25.30, and the bronze was won by Christoph Burkard of Germany, who had a time of 1:25.68.

On Sunday, Spanja won a gold medal in the 400-metre freestyle, and another Croatian disabled swimmer, Kristijan Vincetic, won bronze in the 100-metre butterfly.
