Sixty-one per cent of employed people still feel the economic crisis in the workplace, according to a survey the MojPosao portal conducted in June, polling more than 800 people.

A little over 20 per cent of respondents work in a company undergoing recovery and only three per cent in a company that has fully recovered. Only 14 per cent said they never felt the crisis in the workplace.

The economic crisis has hit construction and architecture companies the most and workers in culture, the media, and food producers the least.

All Croatian regions have been equally hit by the crisis. However, Zagreb has the highest number of those who say the crisis is still being felt in the company they work for (63 per cent).

The crisis has had the biggest impact on salaries, which have been cut to nearly half the respondents. The same number said the crisis had resulted in layoffs.

Forty-five per cent of respondents said a freeze on new employment was a frequent measure. Only two per cent worked in a company that folded because of the crisis.

Nearly half the respondents fear for their job, while one-fourth do not.

Respondents above 41 are the most afraid of being laid off. Depending on the job, those working with fixed-term contracts are the most afraid.

Forty-nine per cent of respondents feel the crisis will last at least two more years, while 43 per cent said it would end within a year or two. Only five per cent feel the crisis will last less than one more year and only three per cent that it is already over.

Sixty-five per cent of respondents do not expect a raise this year and 43 per cent do not expect a Christmas bonus or a cash grant either.
