Croatian President Ivo Josipovic said during a visit to Mostar, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, on Sunday that Croatia's accession to the European Union would not trigger the emigration of local Croats holding dual citizenship, stressing that Croatia's EU membership would provide excellent opportunities for all of its neighbours.
"I don't believe that (Bosnian Croats) will leave the country, but they will definitely have better opportunities to exercise rights enjoyed by Croatian citizens," Josipovic told Radio Herceg-Bosna.
He added that Croatia as an EU member would strongly advocate the EU membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries in the region.
Josipovic expressed satisfaction with the progress made in efforts to reach an agreement on key political issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including efforts to ensure for local Croats the same rights as those enjoyed by the other two peoples.
