Gov't to invite bids for 59% of Uljanik, offer 25% to workers

The Croatian government decided on Thursday to issue a tender for the sale of 59.25 per cent of shares of the Pula-based Uljanik shipyard at an initial price of HRK 397.49 million, while the sale of 25 per cent of shares to the shipyard's workers would be regulated in a separate decision.

The move to privatise Uljanik followed last week's decision to invite bidsfor the privatisation of the remaining five state-owned shipyards.

The government intends to sell 1,324,960 shares, or 59.25 per cent, ofUljanik's share at a nominal price of HRK 397.49 million. A separate decisionwill be made for the sale of 559,064 shares, or 25 per cent, from the portfolioof the Croatian Privatisation Fund to the shipyard's workers under specialconditions.

A tender for the privatisation of all six state-owned shipyards will beissued by February 15, and the deadline for the submission of bids will be 60days from the day the tender is announced.

Last week the government decided to invite bids for the purchase of majoritystakes in four shipyards for one kuna -- for 95.24 per cent of Brodotrogir,99.54 per cent of Kraljevica, 83.32 per cent of Rijeka's 3. maj, and 99.78 percent of Brodogradjevna Industrija Split.

The government recommended to the Brodosplit shipyard to invite bids for thepurchase of the 100 per cent stake in Brodosplit - Brodogradiliste SpecijalnihObjekata at a nominal price of 18.16 million kuna.
