As the water levels of the Neretva River were receding, firefighting units and rescue teams in the southern Croatian towns of Metkovic and Opuzen on Sunday started reducing the number of their staff and equipment on the ground, but continued removing the consequences of floods and supplying local population with food, water and disinfectants, local protection and rescue services said.

Emergency flood protection measures were revoked and replaced with regular flood protection measures on Sunday morning. The water level of the Neretva at Metkovic at noon today was 312 centimetres and downstream from Metkovic, in Opuzen, it was 208 centimetres.

The river has flooded 1,000 houses in Metkovic, 200 houses in Komin, and five houses in Kula Norinska.
