The Mayor of Dubrovnik, Andro Vlahusic, and his coalition partner, independent city councillor Pero Vican, will go on trial before the County Court in Split on Monday, February 20, for abuse of office and financial wrongdoing, the court announced on Friday.

Vlahusic is charged with violating the Dubrovnik City Statute because in April 2010 he granted a HRK 2 million (EUR 267,000) loan, without the approval of the City Council, to Vican whose hotel company Dubrovacko Primorje had found itself in financial trouble.

The national anti-corruption office USKOK issued the indictment in July 2011 and the Split County Court upheld it in November.
