Disgruntled farmers from the eastern Croatian Virovitica area headed towards Zagreb on their tractors shortly after 1100 Saturday, organiser of the farmers protests in Virovitica-Podravina County Zvonko Pipic told reporters.
According to him, farmer are expected to arrive in Zagreb with some 100 tractors.
"(Agriculture) Minister (Petar) Cobankovic has not responded to our calls and we have nothing else to wait for, we are headed towards Zagreb, towards the agriculture ministry (In Vukovarska Street) and if they don't let us through, we will protest in Trg Francuske Republike square," Pipic told press.
He stressed that farmers insisted on every single request they made. They ask, among other things, the payment of incentives in the amount of HRK 2,250 per hectare. They also ask that the price of blue diesel fuel, used in farming activities, stay below HRK 4 per litre.
