Croatia has suggested to Slovenia that the two countries should together approach the Bank for International Settlements in Basel in the matter over foreign savings accounts held by Croatian citizens in the now defunct Slovenian bank Ljubljanska Banka, spokeswoman for the Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Ministry Danijela Barisic told the press on Tuesday.

Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec said in New York last week that Croatia had changed its views during negotiations which made him sceptical that the two countries' financial experts would be able to come up with a solution to the issue, which Croatia's Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic later refuted stating that Croatia wished to collaborate in finding a solution to the Ljubljanska Banka issue but that it had nothing to do with the ratification of Croatia's EU accession treaty.
