Activists of the Movement for Croatia - No to EU Membership, which is opposed to Croatia's entry into the European Union, said on Monday that they did not recognise the results of Sunday's referendum in which two thirds of those who went to the polls voted for Croatia's accession to the 27-strong bloc, and the anti-EU campaigners announced protests throughout Croatia.

The campaign for Croatia's EU entry was "unidirectional", without discussions on the advantages and the disadvantages of admission to the EU, the movement's members said today.

Drazen Keleminec described it also as undemocratic because, he said, Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic threatened that pensioners would be left without pensions unless they voted for the EU.

Describing the EU as "a Masonic organisation against the faith, God and the Church,", he said that the movement "will continue fighting for Croatia", adding that the activists were ready to give their lives for that cause.

Asked when they would start organising protest rallies, the movement's activists said "soon, when the people decide so and realise that the right time has come".

The movement includes several nonparliamentary parties and nongovernmental organisations.
