The Zagreb Philharmonic opens its new season at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on September 27 with a concert by the Vienna Philharmonic, which will play Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich under US conductor Lorin Maazel.

The Vienna Philharmonic, founded in 1842, is one of the most in-demand orchestras in the world.

Maazel first performed in Zagreb in 1987, conducting the Zagreb Philharmonic at the opening of the Universiade sporting event. He also conducted the Munich Philharmonic in Zagreb eight years ago.
