State of disaster declared in Bosnia

A state of emergency was declared in Sarajevo on Saturday due to heavy snowstorms and freezing temperatures that obstructed the traffic in the Bosnian capital over the recent days.

Schools and the university will be closed until Thursday, 9 February.

Sarajevo saw 115 centimetres of snow.

A state of disaster was declared also in snow-hit Tuzla an in eastern and western Bosnia where traffic was paralised.

Rescue teams were engaged to save hundreds of stranded passengers north of Mostar and around the eastern town of Foca all the day.
