Bosnia and Herzegovina's Justice Ministry has received an indictment from Serbia which accuses Branimir Glavas of war crimes and which will be served to him, the Bosnian Justice Ministry told press on Wednesday.
Spokeswoman for the ministry Marina Bakic could not comment on what exactly was stated in the indictment, saying only that the indictment would be served to Glavas.
Glavas is serving an eight-year prison sentence in the southern Bosnian town of Mostar for his role in war crimes committed against Serb civilians in Osijek. The verdict against Glavas was handed down by the Croatian judiciary and upheld by the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose citizenship he also holds.
Bakic stressed that the fact that apart from Croatian Glavas also holds Bosnian citizenship represented an automatic obstacle to his possible extradition to Serbia.
Glavas's lawyer Nikica Grzic said he was not informed of the new indictment from Serbia, saying he did not think that Serbia would refer the case to Bosnia and Herzegovina as it had not done so with any case so far.
Serbia has issued indictments against several current and former Croatian military officials and politicians, including Vladimir Seks, Ivan Vekic and Tomislav Mercep, accusing them of genocide and war crimes against 19 Serb nationals from the Vukovar area.
