Thousands of Slovenians again on Monday staged peaceful protests against "local and state political and economic elites" in major cities.

Dissatisfied with budget cuts and alleged corruption, over 10,000 people gathered in Slovenia's second largest city of Maribor, demonstrating against mayor Franc Kangler.

The protests were also held in the capital of Ljubljana and in Celje and Velenje.

The demonstrations are the largest so far in a string of protests organised over Facebook which started earlier in November.
