Perkovic wins gold at World Championship in Moscow

Croatia’s London 2012 Olympic Games Discus champion Sandra Perkovic won a gold medal in women's discus throw at the World Championship in Moscow on Sunday. Her winning distance was 67.99 metres.

By winning the World Championship, Perkovic won everything one can win in her discipline. Apart from the Olympics, she won the European Championship twice - Barcelona 2010 and Helsinki 2012. Perkovic also took gold in the Mediterranean Games in Mersin and she already securde the second overall victory in the Diamond League.

Melina Robert-Michon won her first major medal 15 years after finishing second in the world juniors as the 34-year-old Frenchwoman took silver with a national record 66.28, half a meter beyond her previous best.

Cuban Yarelys Barrios threw 64.96 to add another bronze to her collection.
